What you can expect from me as your health care provider

  • A supportive and open atmosphere
  • Clarity on what I am doing during treatment , I am happy to answer any questions you may have about traditional Chinese medicine!(TCM).
  • For long lasting change in health you and I work together. I may offer lifestyle and dietary advice based on my TCM training for your complaint.
The Course of Treatments
First Acupuncture Treatment - 1 hour- $70

This first treatment is longer as part of a full consultation- there will be thorough questioning about your main complaint and general health along with the traditional techniques of pulse taking and observation of the tongue.

Subsequent Acupuncture Treatments - 45 mins -$60

The amount of treatments needed and their frequency are flexible. I will talk with you about how many treatments you may need to address your main complaint; this could be anything from consistent treatment throughout the year for a chronic difficult problem, or a short series of 2-3 treatments for a mild or acute problem.
Frequency of treatments can vary from 1-3 times a week, to once every 2-4 weeks. (For example, during a course of treatments I may suggest that initially you come in twice a week for 2 weeks, then only once every two weeks as maintenance for 3 weeks.)
If you find that your financial situation makes it difficult to come in for the recommended amount of treatments I will be happy to discuss ways in which we can get around these.

At all times (of course!) you are in control- you choose the extent and frequency of your treatment programme

Tuina Massage
  • 1 hour        - $75
  • 45 minutes  - $60
  • 30 minutes  - $40 (local area massage only; i.e. neck/shoulders or OOS in the forearms)

Initial Tuina sessions will also include TCM consultation and diagnosis, so in the initial session there will be shorter time on the table. TCM diagnosis will be especially important if you are coming in to have a specific problem attended to rather than a a relaxation or general deep tissue massage.

Combining of Acupuncture and Tuina is an effective method of healing that I enjoy and employ often, the difference between a tuina session and acupuncture session is a full massage with possibly a few needles (with your permission), or an acupuncture session with some local massage.

Taijiquan and Qigong Training

In teaching Taijiquan and Qi-Gong I will always begin with teaching "natural standing"; an essential component of learning how to move your body as a whole from your centre, as well as learning how to still the mind during practise.
Taijiquan (or taiqi/ taichi) is a soft Chinese martial art that is most commonly practised for improving health. If you are interested in learning the basic principals and moves of taiji we can arrange private lessons; or if you are looking for the more martial aspect of the art I can recommend a public class.
Qi gong is a huge and variable field of practice- If you are interested in these exercises (often called Chinese Yoga) I can teach you a health system called Shi-Ba-Shi to use at home. It is a standing meditation where you move the body with the breath.

My Qualifications

I am a fully qualified traditional Chinese acupuncturist from the NZ School of Acupuncture and TCM. This is a four-year Degree. Within those 4 years I have also completed the two-year Diploma of Tuina medical massage and two-year Diploma of Qi-gong and Taijiquan.
The latter allows me to teach the basics of the yang style Taijiquan form, and a wide range of Qi gong systems at a beginners level for health (Shi-ba-shi, Ba duan jin).
