Craniosacral Therapy

This gentle modality is based on the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) around the brain, the spinal cord and sacrum. (The CSF is the fluid taken in a lumbar punch.) Its vital purpose is to carry nutrients around our body, and to carry impurities out of our body.

This tide-like ebb and flow at the core of the body creates a pulse producing minute movements of the bones and tissues of the cranium (the head) and sacrum.

Very delicate manipulative techniques are used to release compression and restrictions in the free flow of CSF.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN THE THERAPY SESSION

While comfortably lying on your back, Waveney begins by releasing the connective tissue starting at the feet and working up the body.  After this most of the work involves holding techniques on the many bones of the head, encouraging and directing their release, and balancing this with the sacrum.  You may not feel very much happening at the time, as it is a subtle but deeply relaxing experience, its gentleness conversely capable of producing powerful changes in your condition. You will feel very relaxed afterwards.

Ideal for babies and young children, CranioSacral Therapy is appropriate for all ages.

CASE STUDIES

Baby Amber was forceps delivered and had cried incessantly for the 6 weeks of her young life.  Her parents were naturally badly distressed.  A large lump on her right occiput (base of the skull) had been diagnosed as “congenital”.  After gentle holding of the occiput the lump went down, showing this was in fact an energy block.  She had half an hour of combined Cranio sacral and shiatsu.  When rang a few days later her parents reported she had been sleeping well since then and no longer cried in pain all the time. She didn’t need any more therapy.

Kevin had extreme pain in his left jaw for four months.  The craniosacral work inside his mouth as well as over his outer cranium immediately brought relief and after 5 sessions the pain had gone and the mobility of his jaw had returned to normal.

Anton had a broken jaw which was wired up internally to hold it in place.

As a result he had chronic pain in the nerves of his face and his jaw was setting askew.  He had ongoing Cranio sacral work for a period, until the pain had subsided and his jaw was aligning normally again.
